Aston Villa could make an offer for Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram in the January transfer window.
The Lowdown: Contract situation
Thuram is primarily a centre-forward who can also play out wide and is valued at €30m by Transfermarkt. The 25-year-old is currently with France at the World Cup but is out of contract with Monchengladbach at the end of the season.
He has made 119 appearances for his current employers, contributing to 67 goals, but it looks as if a move to the Premier League could be on the cards in 2023.
The Latest: Villa speculation
Sports Witness relayed an update from journalist Ignazio Genuardi regarding Thuram on Tuesday.
He claimed that Aston Villa and Newcastle could make a bid for the forward as early as January, with the report adding that Monchengladbach would want just €10m for Thuram’s services.

The Verdict: No-brainer?
Unai Emery wants to sign a new A-list forward for Villa, and Thuram may well be that man in what could be a relatively cheap deal when you consider his market value and Monchengladbach’s asking price.
Thuram has been hailed as ‘world class’ by Wolfsburg sporting director Marcel Schafer and has been on fire in recent months, contributing to 13 goals in 17 games during the current campaign.
Villa may need to rival Newcastle for the forward’s signature, but it seems to be a no-brainer heading into the January transfer window.
