[ad_pod ]Leeds United have issued an update on the fitness of Jack Clarke after the young winger was taken ill during the 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough on Saturday.
What’s the word?
Clarke played the first-half against Boro as the two sides shared a point.
He was substituted at half-time and, whilst on the bench alongside manager Marcelo Bielsa and other substitutes, Clarke fell ill in the final 10 minutes.
The 18-year-old was treated on the sidelines,Âgiven oxygen, and was also examined by medical staff before being taken to hospital.

And Leeds’ chief executive, Angus Kinnear, has confirmed that Clarke is feeling better and has thanked fans for their messages of support.
“JackÂhas had messages from football fans from every club you can imagine and we all really appreciate it,”ÂKinnearÂsaid, per the club’s official website.
“Jack spent the night under the supervision of the medical staff from the club and he will return home today.
“He will undergo some more tests this week and everything is looking well, but he won’t train for the rest of the week.
“In the meantime, we would like to thank everyone who has sent well wishes and once again thank Middlesborough Football Club for all they did for Jack.â€
Result did not matter
As Clarke’s team-mate, Isaiah Brown, tweeted after the game, the result took a backseat after Clarke’s health scare.
“Only thing that matters today is that Jack Clarke is okay! Get well soon brother,” he wrote on his profile.
Leeds took a point from the game and remain in contention for automatic promotion.
Clarke has been central to their rise up the table, scoring two goals and providing two assists in 15 appearances after his first-team breakthrough.
Now, all focus must be on Clarke returning to health and, hopefully, getting back into the Leeds team as soon as possible. For now though, the fact it doesn’t appear to be a serious – or at the very least immediate – health issue is great news for all involved with the Yorkshire club.
