Newcastle United completed the loan signings of Leicester City striker Islam Slimani and Sparta Prague goalkeeper Martin Dubravka on transfer deadline day, and Magpies fans are confident that they now have enough in their squad to survive.
The Tyneside outfit had already signed Chelsea winger Kenedy on loan until the end of the season earlier in the month, and manager Rafa Benitez added the striker and goalkeeper that he wanted before the 11pm deadline on Wednesday.
The Toon suffered another disappointing night on the pitch though as they surrendered a one-goal lead to draw 1-1 at home to Burnley on Wednesday – a result that leaves them one point above the relegation zone – but the new additions look to have lifted the mood of the St James’ Park faithful.
Newcastle supporters were quick to have their say on the two new signings via social media, and while one said “I’m confident we’ll stay up”, another said “we should have enough to stay up”.
