As reported by The Mirror and The Express, Barcelona are making big summer plans to replace manager Luis Enrique and have cast their eye on three Premier League clubs.
What’s the story?
After Barcelona’s humiliating defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, Luis Enrique is under significant pressure at the Nou Camp.
Both The Express and The Mirror reckon he’s for the chop in the summer but his replacement has yet to be decided and both papers are reporting some of the biggest names in the Premier League could make a move.
In The Mirror’s report, they say that Barcelona are looking at both Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and Everton manager Ronald Koeman. Klopp’s reputation from his success at Dortmund is said to be his main selling point while Koeman of course was a former playing star for the Catalan giants.
Meanwhile, in an exclusive, The Express say that Tottenham Hotspur’s Mauricio Pochettino is the man Barcelona want to take them forward despite his long association with arch city rivals Espanyol.
Future plans
If Barcelona do move for one of these managers, it throws into chaos the future plans of each respective club.
Liverpool have committed their future to Klopp, believing he is the man to bring success back to Anfield in the long-term, signing him up to a massive six year contract.
Spurs are are on an upward trajectory under Pochettino as he threatens to bring major success to the club in the form of a league title in the seasons ahead. They’re in the best shape they’ve been for years and are on the verge of moving to a massive new stadium that could see them take a step to the next level.
At Everton too, the future is bright. Ronald Koeman is slowly turning the Goodison Park outfit Toffees fans can be proud of again and will be making a big push for Europe next season.
The lure of managing Barcelona is strong, so supporters of these three clubs must be hoping that if they do decide to replace Luis Enrique, that it’s not their man they look to.
