Newcastle United have reportedly made contact over the potential signing of Galatasaray right-back Sacha Boey this summer.
The Lowdown: Shopping in Turkey…
It has recently been reported that Newcastle are set to make an offer to Fenerbahce to sign their right-back Ferdi Kadioglu.
They appear to be targeting the Turkish top flight as a potential market to explore in the next window, with links to Boey now emerging as well.
The Latest: Contact made
As per Turkish-Football, the St. James’ Park outfit are ‘interested’ in a move for Boey this summer, and have contacted Galatasaray with regards to his possible availability.
Boey’s contract has recently been extended until 2025, and so Gala want at least €20m (£17.7m) to sell, with a number of clubs from major European leagues scouting him already this season.

The Verdict: Is he needed?
One could question whether the Tynesiders need to sign Boey, given that they already have Kieran Trippier in the squad, and signed young Harrison Ashby from West Ham United in the January transfer window.
They also have Javier Manquillo and Emil Krafth on their books as well, and both would likely need to leave in order to accommodate Boey.
Hailed as a ‘talented’ player by journalist Zach Lowy, the 22-year-old is Galatasaray’s second-best performer in the Turkish Super Lig, and given that he shares the same agent as both Joelinton and Loris Karius, this could be an easier deal to do for the Magpies.
However, they must weigh up whether they want another right-back in the squad, and whether that money could be better spent elsewhere.
